Sonapur College, established in the year 1991, has successfully completed 25 years of its glorious journey and celebrating Silver Jubilee in manner befitting to the mission, vision and objectives.
As a centre of academic excellence in the entire North East, the aim of the college is to nurture simultaneous academic and co-curricular endeavor. Since its inception, Sonapur College, from its nascent stage to a centre of academic excellence, has proved to be a meeting point for students from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds of the region and beyond.
The College apart from education also intends to foster a spirit of academic excellence with the belief that value-based learning is of great relevance in a dynamic work environment. Students of the college enjoy an easy access to faculty guidance, full staff support, and constant monitoring and supervision at every level of their achieving excellence in their academic pursuits. The college provides students with a range of avenues and opportunities for self-expression, initiative and experimentation in both the intellectual and co-curricular fields.
To commemorate 25 glorious years, Sonapur College as a premier institute began its celebration of Silver Jubilee on 2nd and 3rd August, 2015 with the gracious presence of many distinguished and eminent personalities as well as the dedicated founders.
In the previous academic session, the college inaugurated a full fledged Indoor Stadium, Mini Theatre Hall and successfully conducted UGC Sponsored National Seminars and published books and periodicals. Having a great legacy in the field of education, Sonapur College is uniquely privileged in offering a number of courses of study under Gauhati University, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University.UGC recognized Sonapur College as DDU KAUSHAL KENDRA and the newly introduced B.Voc programmes in Retail Management & IT, Theatre and Stagecraft and Travel & Tourism Management which will immensely benefit students to find more career avenues.
