Unit Test and Sessional Examinations
Unit tests and Sessional examinations will be held at regular intervals as notified in the academic calendar. Students who fail to appear in the same would be subjected to penalty which will be decided by the authority.
Seminar and Workshops
Seminars and workshops are a regular feature of the annual academic calendar of the college. Apart from the national seminars and workshops sponsored by UGC and other agencies, various Departments also organise seminars and workshops at regular intervals to improve students’ communicative skills as well as to impart knowledge in the concerned area. The respective topics and programmes are mentioned in the prospectus itself.
Dr. Dhanjit Medhi Memorial Lecture
In fond memory of Late Dr. Dhanjit Medhi, founder principal of the college, a memorial lecture is organised by the college in its premises every year. For this lecture eminent personalities of the state are invited to acquaint the students with various contemporary issues.
Wall Magazine
In an effort to inculcate the habit of writing in the students, a number of wall magazines have been introduced in course of time by the college and its departments. Two issues of each wall magazine are released during the academic year.
Annual College Week
In order to encourage all-round development of the students, the Annual College Week is organised every year by the college with the active initiation of the Students’ Union. Students are encouraged to participate in sports and other co-curricular activities during this event.
All Assam Inter College Debate Competition
An All Assam Inter College Debate Competition is organised annually, the prize money for which is sponsored by the family of Sinam Iboton Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics in memory of Late Sinam Uriba Singh.
Rover and Ranger
The Sonapur College unit of Rover and Ranger Group is functioning with active participation of students in rendering social service both inside and outside the college campus.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The NCC unit of the college has been active since the day of its inception. The students enrolled have participated in various camps and programmes organised in different parts of the country. The facilities of NCC are provided to the students through the unit of the college.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The NSS unit of the college has been instrumental in involving the students of the college in various social service activities and awareness programmes.
Excursion
The college excursion is organized during the Puja vacation with the initiation of the students and teachers. The various departments also organize regular excursions for the academic benefit of the students.
Field Work
Under the supervision of the concerned teachers, students of various departments carry out field works to gain firsthand experience and collect data in the concerned subject.
Community Service
Students are encouraged to do community services at a regular basis and the college has an adopted village called Dikchak where various community services are done, including computer awareness programme.
